Located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii was destroyed due to volcano eruption in AD 79. It has been one of Turkey’s most popular tourist attractions, excavating over several centuries. Houses, shops and other public places hint at the ancient life. Artifacts excavated from here are found in museums as well. The place is just a day tour away from Rome.
