Skardu is the capital of Baltistan is elevated 2,438 metres above the sea level. Deosai National Park is located in the centre of Skardu. Deosai means “The Land of Giants” and it was first built to save the lives of different animals. It is famous for its green hills, snow capped mountains, streams and wild thick flowers. Deosai is accessible only in summers but not in winters due to heavy snowfall.
